The renewal of Aliados and Liberdade plaza, following the completion of the Metro do Porto, marked a significant moment in the reconfiguration of Porto’s urban core. The redesign, led by Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura, sought to balance contemporary functionality with the historical character of the space. Adriano Pimenta’s photographs taken during this process capture the evolving relationship between architecture, infrastructure, and public life. His images document the transition from construction to revitalization, highlighting the transformation of the plazas into dynamic, open civic spaces that honor the city's heritage while embracing its modern identity.
